Chaffle Burger Recipe
Ingredients
For the Chaffles:
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons almond flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
For the Burger Patties:
- 1 lb ground beef (80% lean)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
Toppings (optional but recommended):
- Sliced cheese (cheddar, Swiss, or your preference)
- Lettuce
- Tomato slices
- Pickles
- Red onion slices
- Avocado
- Bacon
- Condiments (ketchup, mustard, mayo)
Instructions
- Make the Chaffles:
- Preheat your waffle maker.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded mozzarella, eggs, almond flour, baking powder, and any optional seasonings. Mix until well combined.
- Grease the waffle maker with a little oil or non-stick spray.
- Pour a portion of the chaffle batter into the preheated waffle maker (amount will depend on your waffle maker size). Cook until the chaffles are golden brown and crispy, usually about 4-5 minutes.
- Remove the chaffles and set them aside to cool slightly. They will firm up as they cool.
- Make the Burger Patties:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties.
- Preheat a grill, skillet, or grill pan over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.
- If adding cheese, place a slice of cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking. Cover the grill or skillet to melt the cheese.
- Assemble the Chaffle Burgers:
- Place a chaffle on a plate to act as the bottom “bun.”
- Add a cooked burger patty on top of the chaffle.
- Add your desired toppings.
- Place another chaffle on top to complete the burger.
- Repeat for the remaining patties.
- Serve:
- Serve the chaffle burgers immediately. Enjoy with a side of low-carb vegetables or a salad.
Tips
- Customize the chaffle batter with your favorite herbs or spices for added flavor.
- You can also make mini chaffles if you have a mini waffle maker, perfect for sliders.
- Store leftover chaffles in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage. Reheat in a toaster or oven to crisp them up before serving.
Enjoy your delicious, low-carb Chaffle Burger!
